The end has no end

The Arctic cold front couldn't of come at a better time. All week San Diego has been experiencing trickles of rain and refrigerator like temperatures. These conditions have stimulated some sort of study hormone that enabled me to be cooped up in my room with a fat stack of books. Better yet in a few days finals start! I need to do fairly well on all of them so temporary hermit mode is in effect. However this is a bit of an exaggeration because I still did fun things this week! Because I have a beaucoup amount of meals left on my meal plan, I have been inviting my family and friends to have dinner with me all week. The dreaded meal plan has been forcing my friends and I to eat at the same old SLP for the past few weeks. Where are our culinary freedoms! Anyways, Wednesday was the last Maher RLC for the semester. Father Mike made a giant cauldron of hot chocolate along with the usual order of Domino's pineapple pizza. That combination did not settle well in the stomach. To replace the gospel reading and reflection, we all sang Christmas carols with the acoustic support of a few RLC members. I think we all thought Christmas was the next morning. On Thursday the school hosted the annual Christmas dinner. I think I had four plates of ham, scalloped potatoes, and vegetables. I still have not eaten since that night. On Friday my dormitory was hosting a Neon dance, but I really had the urge to go Christmas shopping. Thus, I spent my Friday night searching for the perfect gifts for my loved ones. Today is Saturday and I am only planning on studying and perhaps catching a movie later tonight. Unfortunately my roommate has been bed ridden due to illness for the past couple days. I'm trying to keep him company and help me out. Oh I forgot to say, the most exciting thing this week is going to be tomorrow. I am going to the Wrex the Halls concert featuring Rise Against, AFI, and 30 Seconds to Mars. That should be my final fun thing to do this semester until finals are over. Alright people, I am signing off.

Countdown

Hey guys I am sorry I have been inactive for awhile but I have been way to busy eating and sleeping. Now that I finally have time to sit down and blog I will fill you guys in with my extensive activities starting with Thanksgiving! My nomadic neighbor from Florida didn't go home for Thanksgiving so my family adopted him for a few days. As usual it was an extremely gorgeous week with clear skies and radiating sun. To take advantage of this, Craig and I surfed all day Wednesday and kayaked all day Thursday. On Friday and Saturday we visited our fellow USD friend up by Los Angeles. Only 20 minutes away from her house is Mt. Baldy where there was plenty of snow and freezing temperatures. Keep in mind we are still in Southern California!

As you can see, we are sporting our top of the line, thermal USD gear. So after that weekend, school resumed and boy was it tough. Everyone was in the holiday spirit and was not geared back to academic efficiency. I know I personally struggled when I should of studied a little more for my math test. This week was pretty eventful, the highlight being the USD vs SDSU basketball game. The entire game was neck and neck until State just overpowered us in overtime. Although it was disappointing it was great to finally see some Torero spirit. On Tuesday I attended the Sigma Phi Epsilon scholarship banquet. I am still not sure if I am going to join a fraternity but I got a pretty positive outlook on the values and brotherhood of Sig Ep. As usual I didn't win the scholarship but it was a good experience because it was my first attempt to create a resume and go through the interview process. I also got to wear my dusty dress attire that has been sitting in my closet all year.

Today was pretty gloomy and cold but that didn't stop my friends and I going to the beach. We had a nice lunch at my favorite sandwich shop in Del Mar then I paddled out for a bit while my friends were playing frisbee. The trace amounts of raindrops and darkened skies was a good enough signal for us to head back to USD.
With the first semester of my freshman year rapidly ending, I need to look ahead not for Christmas but for finals! I have my regrets such as being more studious but for surely I am going to clean up during finals. Blog you later
